IT Job Training Center (ITJTC) started in 1999 as a chain of Internet cafés, which later evolved into a training institution in 2008 due to increasing demand for education and training. Registered under the National Training Council (NTC No. 157), ITJTC established strategic partnerships, including with TAFE Academies in Australia, aligning its courses with the PNG National Qualifications Framework (PNGNQF) in fields such as business management, IT, and accounting.
The institute quickly gained a strong reputation, leading to the opening of branches in Kimbe, Maus, and Oro Province. Despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which resulted in downsizing and delayed registration renewal, ITJTC remained dedicated to delivering quality education. Over the past 1 years, ITJTC has produced over 20,000 skilled professionals and trained more than 9,000 corporate employees, significantly contributing to Papua New Guinea’s workforce and community development.
In 2023, ITJTC underwent a comprehensive organizational reform, including a rebranding to International Business & Technical College (IBT College). The reforms encompassed a governance and organizational restructure, implementation of a digital management system, faculty management, quality assurance control, student management, campus and facility development, curriculum updates, and the integration of learning with practical application. After a two-year reform journey, IBT College successfully passed the DHERST independent audit and was officially registered and accredited as a higher education provider in August 2024.
